Mercom Integrates EMC Centera Content Addressed Storage with Audiolog Recording Platform to Ensure Security of Call Recordings
New online storage option will provide Mercom customers with advanced security for call recording storage and authentication
Lyndhurst, NJ, July 19, 2004 -- Mercom Systems, Inc., a provider of multimedia recording and agent evaluation tools for contact centers, today announced that it has completed integration of Mercom’s Audiolog™ recording platform with the EMC Centera™ content addressed storage (CAS) solution. EMC Centera represents an entirely new software-driven storage architecture specifically designed to address the unique information storage and security requirements of fixed content such as call recordings.
EMC Centera is now available as an integrated option for Mercom Audiolog users who want to securely archive their voice files online. This will offer customers a scalable solution while meeting regulatory requirements.
“While we continue to offer a variety of archiving and storage options such as automatic archiving to DVD-RAM, support for network attached storage (NAS), RAID5, etc., many customers want to store their calls online and at the same time verify that they haven’t been tampered with ” said Bob Jagendorf, Director of Marketing and Sales at Mercom. “EMC Centera’s cutting edge technology ensures that when users retrieve a recording, they can authenticate the recording is in its original state and that it has not been tampered with. This is particularly important for government agencies and industries that are tightly regulated such as financial services and healthcare, as well as for instances when 911 or other calls need to be used as evidence in court.”
“As the world’s first CAS solution, Centera can bring long-term value to call centers by ensuring voice files remain unchanged while providing fast access with assured content integrity,” added Roy Sanford, Vice President of Content Addressed Storage at EMC. “The EMC Centera network-based storage solution economically scales from multiple terabyte to petabyte-sized environments and is suited to handle voice files from call centers of all sizes.”
Mercom / EMC Solution Delivers New Approach to Online Voice Recording
Once relegated to tape archives, optical disks, or file cabinets, fixed content is now being driven online. This is being fueled by digitization and regulatory requirements in industries such as healthcare, insurance, financial services, telecommunications, and outbound telemarketing; and the desire to leverage this content into new services and revenue streams. Just as the growth of applications such as Computer Aided Design and the explosion of the Web drove the use of network-attached storage as an enterprise storage strategy, the need to manage, protect and access fixed content is the driving force behind this new category of networked storage.
